Dr. Miguel Alonso Jr. is a faculty member in the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology at the Miami Dade College School of Computer and Engineering Technologies. He is currently an Associate Professor of Engineering and the director of the Computing Research Lab at Miami Dade College.

His research interests include Mobile Computing Applications & Development, Cloud-Based Scientific Computing, and Parallel/Distributed High Performance Computing, Image Processing, Computer Vision, & Machine Learning, all with a central focus on Human-Computer Interaction. Dr. Alonso is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and a member of IEEE and ACM, as well as the engineering honors societies Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu.
